What is the correct tyre pressure

Tyre pressure is one of the simplest yet most important factors for safe driving. Incorrect pressure affects grip, tyre wear, comfort, and even fuel consumption.

Where to find the correct pressure

The manufacturer’s recommended pressure can usually be found on the fuel filler cap, inside the driver’s door frame, or in the vehicle’s owner’s manual. Some vehicles have different recommendations for normal load and full load or highway driving.

When to check tyre pressure

It is recommended to check tyre pressure at least once a month and before long trips. The most accurate measurement is taken when the tyres are cold.

Why low pressure is dangerous

Too low pressure increases tyre deformation, heat buildup, and wear. It can reduce handling performance and increase the risk of damage.

Why high pressure is also not ideal

Too high pressure causes increased wear in the center of the tread, reduces comfort, and may decrease grip on uneven roads.

Practical tips

  • check pressure when tyres are cold
  • consider vehicle load and season
  • do not forget the spare wheel
  • if a tyre regularly loses air, identify the cause
