Tyre wear does not always occur evenly across the entire tread. If one side wears faster, the centre becomes more worn, or the wear appears in patches, this usually indicates that a specific cause should be identified.

Wear in the centre of the tread
If the middle of the tread wears the most, the tyre has likely been overinflated for a prolonged period. In this case, contact with the road is not even.
Wear on the edges
If both edges are wearing, a common cause is underinflation. The tyre deforms more and makes uneven contact with the road.
Wear on one side only
If one side wears significantly more than the other, the wheel alignment or suspension condition should be checked. This type of wear reduces tyre lifespan and worsens handling over time.
Patchy or irregular wear
Irregular wear may be related to wheel balancing, shock absorber condition, or other mechanical factors. In this case, simply adjusting tyre pressure is not sufficient.
How to reduce the risk of uneven wear
- check tyre pressure regularly
- monitor alignment and suspension condition
- take action if the car pulls to one side
- inspect the tyres if vibration or unusual noise appears
